Join us here in Sowerby Bridge and attend one of the craziest festivals known in our area. We are certain that it will be like no other festival you have attended before and the best part is that all money raised is donated to charity. Have I left you wanting to know what it is? Welcome to Norland’s Scarecrow Fest. This is a great family day out and most certainly brings the community together to celebrate this time-honoured English tradition.
Everybody creates their own unique scarecrow and villagers and visitors follow a trail around the area to judge each offering. Each year the competition gets tougher as the standards keep rising. Although this sounds easy, there is a catch. All scarecrows must be designed regarding the letter ‘N’. For example, you could dress and design your scarecrow to look like a Ninja Turtle.
In addition to all the creative scarecrows that you will see, there are stalls selling food, drinks and ice cream for that mid-afternoon treat. There is also a lot more things to do and see amongst the festive spirit. For the adults, there are numerous pubs situated around the area for that well-deserved beverage.
Parking is free when you purchase one of the £2 Trail Guides and the money raised is donated to charity.
To top off your spontaneous adventure, make sure you book a room at The New Hobbit where we will make your experience is as homely as possible. Located close to the festival, your travel time will be limited, giving you more time to enjoy the festivities. We look forward to welcoming you.
